Thank you for your prayers as a team from our US office traveled to Thailand this month! This visit was very enlightening, giving us insight into the great need in that nation. We were blessed to see the work of some of God’s finest missionaries working in a highly complex ministry environment!
We visited only one city, Pattaya. The beautiful beaches have made Pattaya a bustling tourist destination, but behind the veneer of tourist attractions is an ugly sex trade that creates layers of human suffering.
We visited the MERCY office, received an orientation of their work, and prayed for the staff. MERCY is a ministry established by Fred and Dianne Doell, now directed by Lhen Lhen Mortela, for the purpose of meeting the needs of Pattaya’s poor.
One MERCY project is the establishment of a community center in a slum neighborhood. We attended the weekly church service held at the community center which is snuggled among make-shift homes. There we had the privilege of visiting with members of the community and praying for several precious ladies. After the service a meal was provided and children enjoyed games. We heard many stories of lives transformed in this community through MERCY’s work.
We enjoyed a service at Encounter Church Pattaya, which has four other locations. Jean-Claude preached a message on finding your purpose and six people accepted the Lord. John and Lisa Swanner pastor this diverse church of international Pattaya residents, ministers, and local Thais.
We are privileged to work with such dedicated missionaries! Thank you for going with us to Thailand through your prayers. Thank you for love sown to the nations through Living Word Missions!
