Founders, Russ and Wendy Tatro, served as missionaries to Guatemala, Liberia, and Sierra Leone in the late 1980s/early 1990s, primarily establishing Bible schools.

From the Bible schools in West Africa, over 10 generations of disciples were born, who in turn have founded over 500 Bible schools worldwide; producing over 100,000 graduates. Many of these graduates now serve as ministers and missionaries.

A mandate from the Lord to be “missionaries to missionaries” led the Tatros back to the U.S. in 1993, establishing Living Word Missions as a missions-service ministry…in other words, a 21st century missions society.

In 2005, LWM headquarters relocated to Massachusetts and in June 2006, Russ went home to be with the Lord, leaving large shoes to fill.

The Lord made it clear, however, that the work was to continue, informing us that, “assignments don’t die, they are redistributed.” Wendy assumed direction of the ministry and now serves as the International Director of Living Word Missions. She is assisted by a great team of missions- minded individuals who consider it a great privilege to serve the missionaries affiliated with Living Word Missions.
